Cecilie D. Keenan is a freelance director and producer who has been active in the Chicago Theater Community for over 20 years.  Cecilie most recently directed Another Part of the House for Teatro Vista and The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow for Collaboraction.   Cecilie is currently Resident Director and Producing Director for Teatro Vista.  She has been instrumental in the growing of that company for the last seven years.

As an artist, she has been a frequent director at many Chicago Theaters, including American Blues Theater, where she was a company member and helped build their current theater and Bailiwick Repertory where she was Artistic Director during their transition into their home at 1229 W. Belmont. 

At American Blues/ATC she directed Living Out (co-pro with Teatro Vista), Toys in the Attic and Bus Stop.  Bailiwick Repertory is where she started the Director’s Festival, 11 Minutes Max, and with David Zak, the Deaf Artists Program.  Her directing work at Bailiwick includes: Our Town (a deaf/hearing/movement version), Nagasaki Dust, Shanghai Gesture, Dark of the Moon and Prometheus Bound/UnBound.

Cecilie has lived on the West Side of Chicago for almost 12 years and is married to the talented musician and father Whayne Braswell, and mom to 6 year old swimming “phenom” Rasa.
